No.
11 (Blue and White) - January 2004
Alexandra Cunningham’s intense new play No. 11
(Blue and White)
opens January 15, 2004 at the Phoenix Theater near Union Square
in San Francisco under the direction of Paul Draper.
No.
11 brings us into the world of a clique of affluent teens
in their senior year of high school. The two central characters,
Alex and Reid, share the throne in the school’s pecking order
and when Reid is accused of rape, Alex rallies to clear his
name with fierce and ruthless loyalty.
No. 11 (Blue and White) is a hip drama
with lots of attitude and humor, spiced with frank situation
and language. The play asks starkly, “how far would you do
to defend the devil you know?”
The show was first presented at the Humana
Festival of Louisville in 2000 and has received wide critical
acclaim in New York with a 2002 production by The Play Company.
ABYDOS Theater’s production is the West Coast premier of this
important new work. ABYDOS’
production moves from a hot run at Sonoma State University,
and is performed by a vibrant ensemble from the University’s
Actor Training Program. Pamela Walker of Chicago and LA joins
the cast in the role of Reid’s mother for the San Francisco
run.
CAST: Brian Mackey, Pamela
Walker*, Patrick Alparone, Joe Rende, Kelly Campbell, Jennifer
Luker, Catherine Morse, Kelly Rose Anderson, Jennifer Gelbert.
